Our May meeting will be an informative  plant diagnostic and solutions to members "pitiful plants" by Jack Batchelor and Suzanne Farnsworth. Please bring your problem plants for free help from our member experts.


The guest speaker for the April meeting was Phillip Hamilton, general manager for the Sun Bulb Company in Apopka. Phillip was born in Jamaica and grew up with the family orchid business. Phillip presented what he learned about Broughtonia crossings. Phillip's specialty are the Phalaenopsis varieties. We thank Mr Hamilton for a very informative slide presentation.

Meeting Notes
Meetings usually include a business meeting, a guest speaker, refreshments, a raffle, and a show-and-tell. Speakers often bring plants and/or supplies for sale. December and June meetings include a covered dish buffet with meats provided by the Society. Each fall a fund raising auction is conducted. Members who contribute plants get a share of the sale price. Also, a potting clinic is held yearly at a nearby business as a fund raiser. Orchid books are available for members to check out at each meeting.

Our group has many knowledgeable, experienced members who are happy to share information with newcomers. We welcome first-time visitors at no charge at our monthly meetings. Membership dues are very reasonable, if not even downright cheap.

Meetings are held from September through June on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. at the Leesburg Employee Wellness Center, 201 East Dixie Avenue (Venetian Gardens), Leesburg, Florida. Check out the membership information page for more details. Visitors are always welcome!
